laptop apple

I have come to the conclusion that Apple is Big Brother.
My reasoning for this is the creepy as hell fact that there is a camera in every single Apple laptop, creepily watching everything you do. It's creepy.
How can any Mac laptop computer owner feel comfortable with a camera on them at all times?
It's only a matter of time until Apple is sold to the government, and the government requires that these cameras be turned on at all times.
Then, the government will put a mustached fellow on each laptop with cameras in his eyes. Then it will be called Big Brother. Then everyone will yell, "Holy crap! That whole 1984 thing was really good at predicting the horrible path that Apple would take lolz."

Toshiba Portege M205 laptop.

Fortunately, Toshiba was an early supporter of Microsoft's Tablet PC initiative. Their convertibles do consistently well in Tablet PC round-ups, usually coming out on top. And it's easy to see why; that old winning Portege magic is still there in every detail, only now they have a whole new arena in which to compete. Yes, they are still pricey compared to the competition, but when you factor in the kinds of extras typically bundled with their machines, the expense factor is not such a big deal as it might at first appear. We've enjoyed having a long-term loaner Portege M205 in the editorial offices of Pen Computing Magazine for some time now, and the machine has become something of a favorite with the editors. It's not the fastest (that would be the Fujitsu,) nor the smallest (Acer,) the cheapest (Averatec,) the most flexibly designed (HP,) nor it is the best for media (Fujitsu again.) As the Wizard of Oz might put it, it's got one the other's haven't got: a remarkably dense SXGA+ display (1400x1050 pixels) driven by a high-end Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 graphics subsystem with 32MB of dedicated video RAM.

Toshiba makes their own LCD panels, so it's not really surprising they developed a high-res tablet display. The part itself lacks the incredibly wide viewing angles of a Hydis display, but anyone who works in a graphics-intensive field will get over that disadvantage pretty quickly; once they view, say, an AutoCAD document on this machine, the competition might just as well pack up and go home.

I don't want to give the impression the M205 is a one trick pony. The rest of the machine is, with a few exceptions, as good as anything out there. It's very solid, with superbly well-engineered latches and other moving parts. This thing will clearly last a long time. The screen swivel, in particular, is like the proverbial rock. Battery life under the worst of circumstances is a surprising 3.5 hours. The full-size keyboard has a pleasant short travel and an ideal layout. The rear part of the lower chassis is slightly bowed out to allow you to view the five status LEDs when in tablet mode, while also providing the ideal place to hold the unit with your left hand, arm under the chassis, while penning with your right. At 4.6 pounds, you won't want to do this all day, but it's great for short periods. The pen springs out of a silo on the mid-right side of the base, which took me a little getting used to. Most of the connectors and jacks are in the back, with audio ports and volume control on the front, a wireless radio defeat on the left side, and a security port on both sides. There is a plate on the right that looks so much like an optical drive slot that at first I just assumed it was one, but no such luck; the unit comes with a serviceable external unit instead.

laptop Acer's TravelMate 6293

Acer's TravelMate 6293 all-purpose laptop will thrill corporate bean counters with its long battery life.

Not all slim and light laptops come off the conveyor belt bursting with sex appeal. Take the Acer TravelMate 6293: Battery life, it has in spades. Everything else? Not so much. This entirely black portable is fairly well packaged as far as all-purpose laptops go, but if this machine were to go on a diet and lose 0.6 pounds, it could qualify as a good deal for an ultraportable. No doubt Acer's goal was to cut corners--and some standard notebook connections--to a hit a palatable $999 price point, perfectly acceptable for a business budget. But the result is a laptop that's a tad frumpy.
Don't get me wrong--performance-wise, the TravelMate 6293 rocks. Its battery life is Energizer Bunny amazing. Equipped with a powerful 7200-mAh battery, the laptop lasted 3 minutes shy of 8 hours in our tests. Just stick this baby in a backpack or briefcase and walk out the door declaring Outlet Freedom Day. The results are far better than what we've seen from any other all-purpose portable on the scene. Heck, because of its diminutive size, we were this close to comparing it with a Lenovo ThinkPad X200.

The speed of the TravelMate 6293 is good, too, though not quite as breathtaking. The 2.26-GHz Core 2 Duo P8400-equipped unit with 2GB of RAM turned in a pretty impressive WorldBench 6 score of 90, so it should be able to handle any type of work swiftly, limited only by the shared video memory. Lack of a dedicated graphics card is an unfortunate characteristic of small laptops that effectively eliminates gaming; the memory is just too sparse to support 3D shooters with fancy shading.

Of course, small screens don't lend themselves to entertainment, either, but the 12.1-inch, 1280-by-800-pixel, wide-aspect display is fine for any other job you care to squeeze into those small quarters. It's crisp, reasonably bright, and glossy, but it won't hurt your eyes under office lights.

Topping the TravelMate 6293's keyboard are seven helpful quick-launch buttons. All are preprogrammed for such activities as setting the system password, launching the onboard backup utility, and starting your e-mail program and Web browser. A nice touch is that one button triggers the Launch Manager itself, which saved me worlds of time poking around various utilities and system-tray icons attempting to find the program that would let me reset the buttons to start my own favorite apps. Overall the keyboard is well laid out and easy to type on. The touchpad is small but zippy and easy to use. Only the mouse buttons--particularly short to make room for the fingerprint reader between them, and extremely stiff--are a distraction.

At 4.6 pounds--not including the power brick, which makes the total weight 5.4 pounds--the TravelMate 6293 is a tad heavy for an ultraportable but fairly light for an all-purpose machine. (The extra beef pushes it into the all-purpose category, since it weighs over 4 pounds.) Obviously designed for corporate jetsetters restricted by a budget, it also lacks a FireWire port (which would have been handy for fast digital downloads) and sports the older PC Card slot instead of an ExpressCard slot.

In the plus column, the laptop does have a nice, big, 250GB hard drive, plus conveniences such as dedicated Bluetooth and 802.11n Wi-Fi switches and a built-in Webcam. The storage and memory are fully user-upgradeable--great news for rapid IT deployment.

The TravelMate 6293 also includes other features important to bottom-line-conscious corporate buyers, such as a gigabit ethernet connection and a standard DVD recorder (rather than a pricey high-definition optical drive).

laptop Acer TravelMate TM3002WTCi

The Acer TravleMate 3000 comes with two battery packs (slim-line and high-capacity) as part of its standard bundle. Weighing just 3.1 lb (1.4kg) with just the three-cell battery and no external optical drive this laptop is just the right weight to travel with.

With the Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 you should have no problems running the programs you want. Making connections will never be a problem with the choice of using Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Wireless PAN, Ethernet LAN or V.92 56kbps data/fax modem. With both batteries installed you’ll get approximately 6.5 hours of operating time which should work for most mobile professionals.

The display is 12.1” WXGA TFT LCD allowing up to 16.7 million colors and optimal resolution of 1280 x 800. It includes support for multiple displays on the laptop and an external monitor. The hard drive is 60GB ATA/100 with optical drives as external components. Floppies are optional and must be ordered.

laptop dell inspiron 6400

The Dell Inspiron 6400 although clearly not too inspiring with its plain Jane looks, managed to deliver a generally good performance rating with its Intel Core 2 Duo processor and maintained a favorable power consumption level. Graphics wise, the Inspiron 6400 held it own with its ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 embedded solution, which brings about a great balance between performance and battery life for its class. Those that have the habit of playing the latest graphic intensive games would be a little disappointed though, as there are no upgrades to the Inspiron 6400 available that allows anything much more powerful to fit into its chassis. Nevertheless, the Mobility Radeon X1400 is a capable mainstream GPU.

laptop Acer TravelMate TM2480

Acer currently offers a cheap Vista-ready laptop for you, the TravelMate TM2480 model. The good thing, this 14.1-inch widescreen notebook already comes pre-loaded with Windows Vista Basic operating system, so you don’t have to purchase the OS separately. Priced at just $539.99, it features an Intel Celeron M 420 (1.60GHz) processor, a 512MB of DDR2 main memory, an 80GB of hard drive, and a DVD/CD-RW combo drive. Probably not the best machine for Vista (my TravelMate 3274WXMi is way much better) and you may still need to upgrade to Vista Home Premium to taste the whole delicious features of the Vista OS, but at least you don’t have to pay too much bucks for playing around with Vista.

Weighs 5.3 lbs, Acer TravelMate TM2480 is also equipped with an Intel GMA 950 graphics engine, WiFI connectivity, an integrated 56K modem, Ethernet LAN, a Type I/II PC Card Slot, three USB ports, a 5-in-1 card reader, a VGA out and S-Video TV-out.

laptop levono T400

The design of the T400 has changed a bit. The changes are subtle to the untrained eye, but they are there. The right side is now gently sloped similar to what can be found on the older T4x series, where the sides angle inward instead of dropping off flat. First clue about this is the optical drive bezel which sports a nice beveled edge. The rubber feet have also been slightly tweaked, now feeling softer, and you get an additional springy nub. Getting past the minor case design changes, the ThinkPad is every bit as boring as all of those preceding it. We have the same paint, same rubbery texture, and we still have our ThinkPad logo.

Build quality is very similar to the previous generation T61, with all of its strengths and weaknesses. Fit and finish are great with most parts, but you still have a good amount of battery wiggle in the back, as well as the cheaper feeling plastic LCD lid. The molded plastic panels throughout the notebook feel sturdy, with only mild flex near the card slots. On our particular configuration with the SD card reader taking the place of the PC-Card slot and we get a cheap plastic blank instead of a spring loaded flap. Without the plastic blank in place the palmrest does want to bend down at that location under stress. Another odd trait I noticed was additional flex on the right side of the keyboard, where my T60 is solid as a rock, but the T400 wants to give in just a bit. It is still very strong compared to other notebooks, but not as rock solid as the older model.

About Dell XPS 1330 and 1530 Laptop

About Dell XPS 1330 and 1530 Laptop
Dell used to be well known for building low end laptop at reasonable price. The model XPS M1330 released last year June was the first breakthrough for Dell. With Intel Centrino's Fourth Generation Santa Rosa platform, 13.3" screen with CCFL or WLED, a biometric fingerprint reader, and NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400M GS graphics card (optional), the XPS M1330 model is the first high end laptop Dell. The processor can be configured with Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors up to the T9500 (2.6 GHz), or with Intel Core 2 T9300s or 9500s. The design is definitely striking. When this laptop was first released, it's only available in 3 colors: Crimson red, Tuxedo black, and Pearl white. Only recently, Dell has announced the new colors to be included into the XPS 1330 model: Alpine White, Midnight blue, and Flamingo Pink!

Specification for XPS M1330:

* Up to 2.6 GHz Core 2 Duo T7800 processor, Santa Rosa chipset
* Up to 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
* 320GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
* 13.3-inch WXGA screen with LED backlight
* CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive)
* 128MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400M GS
* Weight starts at 4 pounds with 6-cell battery

After the release of XPS M1330, Dell has released another 15.4" laptop, XPS M1530 which is almost identical to XPS M1330, except that it's a bit heavier and thicker with a 15.4" CCFL screen. Similar to M1330, XPS M1530 can be configured up to T7800 or T9500 Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors (2.6 GHz), 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, and 320GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM), or an optional 64 GB solid-state drive. Dell has also recently added new colors for XPS M1530 laptop which include Alpine White, Midnight blue, and Flamingo Pink!

If you are looking for a high end pink laptop, both XPS series laptops (ultraportable M1330, thin-and-light M1530) are great choice to consider as both of them are now available in Flamingo pink.

Review
It is said that both XPS M1330 and M1530 is the result of Dell's effort to improve their products after listening to customer feedback on its older, thick and heavy laptops. It's certainly a pleasant surprise for the customers when the thin and light XPS M1330 was release with its striking design and high end features. Then, after receiving the tons of positive feedbacks from the market on the XPS M1330 model, Dell figured it would make more customers happy by releasing a 15.4" version of M1330, which is a more popular laptop size. So they they make XPS M1530, which has been receiving equally high praises since its release on November 2007.
roduct Summary
The good: Thin, sexy design; strong performance; includes media remote control and HDMI output.
The bad: Not as revolutionary as the previous 13-inch version; fewer configuration options than Dell's Inspiron line.
The bottom line: Dell's turn toward a "design-first" philosophy continues to pay off with the XPS M1530, easily the best-looking 15-inch laptop in recent memory.

Conclusion of Notebook Review on M1530:

"Overall, the Dell XPS M1530 is a solid addition to the Dell notebook lineup. We praised the smaller XPS M1330 for having "a design that is second to none in its price range" but we didn't feel quite as strong about the design of the larger M1530. While this is certainly the hottest 15.4" notebook available from Dell, it's hard to shake the feeling that we're looking at a "fat" M1330 with a larger screen. While issues like a noisy slot-loading drive, noisy hard drive, and limited screen options will make some demanding buyers look elsewhere, the M1530 is an excellent alternative to HP's popular dv6500t notebook in the same price range."

Note: Most reviews were made last year when the laptops were just release with no pink color available. Flamingo pink and a few other colors were only made available recently on both XPS M1330 and M1530 laptop.

new laptop HP Pavilion dv6500t

A beautifully crafted consumer notebook, the new HP Pavilion dv6500t has backlit media controls and a stylish case that's made for showing off.
Capable of serious work as well, it's a strong performer, yet fairly light (6.2 pounds) and easily totable. The keyboard is a tad bouncier than that of its predecessor, the dv6000t. And though bright and readable, the 15.4-inch screen tends to reflect overhead lights. Also, HP downgraded the dv6000t's 1.3-megapixel (1280-by-1024-pixel) Webcam to 0.3 megapixels (640 by 480 resolution) on the dv6500t. These are minor nits, however.

While the dv6500t adds a few more circles to the subtle motif on its designer lid, cosmetically the system is largely the same gorgeous laptop as its predecessor, with the same durable, high-gloss casing and piano-black hinges. New are support for draft-n Wi-Fi (in addition to 802.11a/b/g), a fingerprint reader for security, an HDMI output for connecting to a television, and the option for an HD DVD-ROM drive (though our test unit came with a multiformat, dual-layer DVD writer). The dv6500t has three USB ports and a seven-in-one shared card slot, and the configuration we tested included a 120GB hard drive.

Our $1309 (as of 5/9/07) review model also came equipped with 2GB of RAM and the new 2-GHz Core 2 Duo T7300 chip, which together helped it earn a WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 75--just 10 percent behind the fastest laptops we've tested. As a result, the dv6500t can handle any type of application, from mainstream to multimedia, except 3D shooter games. The dv6500t's integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 can use up to 358MB of main system memory; but for real gaming muscle, you'd want to upgrade to the optional 256MB nVidia GeForce Go 7400 graphics chip.

Battery life was excellent: The notebook lasted just 3 minutes shy of 4 hours in our tests.

Multimedia junkies still have the HP QuickPlay feature that was found on the dv6000t. This entertainment menu launches with one tap or a swipe of the touch-sensitive strip at the top of the keyboard, letting you enjoy DVD movies, music, personal videos, and photo slide shows without booting Windows.
